WHAT CAUSES STRIFE AMONG YOU? Rev Dr KBA Adeyemi

Strife is a strong and ongoing conflict over a fundamental issue. Strife is deeper than argument, broader than disagreement. It usually involves bitterness and violence. It is a deadly weapon.
“What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you? You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.” (Jas.4.1-2.NLT)
There are several causes of strife:
DESIRES: Most often borne out of jealousy leading to fight and quarrel because they desire things they don’t have. The truth may not surface until it is too late.
ANGER: “An angry man stirs up dissertations” (Prov. 29:22)
GREED: A greedy man stirs up strife (Priv.28:25)
Other causes may include;
Ridicule
Hatred
Gossip
Selfishness
The tongue
Pride
The Bible says that a soft answer can turn away wrath, while a harsh word can stir up anger. The bottom line is that strife is borne out of our evil desires. It is not from truth, or justice but hidden motives. And after the shout of wolves where there are none, shame and disgrace are the end result. It has led some to leave the church, distance themselves from family gatherings, and murder of political alliance, and or the dismissal of colleagues in work places.
“Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling.” (Pro.20.3.NLT)
The presence of the causes of strife is in all of us and the management of which only comes from allowing Holy Spirit operations in our lives before we burn down the church, homes, families etc.

WORD: “Pride leads to conflict; those who take advice are wise.” (Prov.13.10.NLT)
