WHAT QUALIFIES A PERSON FOR AN EFFECTIVE MINISTRY? – Bro Sam Kputu

Text:Acts 4:13-14 MSG

They couldn’t take their eyes off them – Peter and John standing there so confident, so sure of themselves! Their fascination deepened when they realized these two were laymen with no training in Scripture or formal education. They recognized them as companions (fellows) of Jesus…”

We live in a age of knowledge and expertise. When your natural intelligence reaches it’s limit, there is artificial intelligence (AI) avaliable to be tapped. In this sort of setting, knowledge is celebrated over and above substance, even in ministry.

The fall out of this is people striving for letters above the Spirit, in preparation for ministry. Of course, in ministry like any other endeavor, competence is key. For too long, ministry has become a fertile and dumping ground for referrals and mediocres. We need well-trained and equipped men and women in ministry today, people that “study to show themselves approved, as work men that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2Timothy 2:15)

What qualifies a person for a role in ministry? And where should they acquire such qualifications? Is it the Seminary degrees or the ecclesiastical titles that one weirds (Bihsop, Prophet, Apostle, Rev. Dr…)? These may be of importance and relevance in certain circles, but they amount to little or nothing in real ministry impact.

There are five (5) major qualifications for ministry that men need to be striving for.

▪︎ BA = Born Again (basic entry qualification)

▪︎ MA = Master Assurance of Salvation.

▪︎ M.SC = Master (life) situations and circumstances (through the word of God)

▪︎ Ph.D = Power higher than Demons (by the anointing of the Holy Spirit)

▪︎ FWJ = Fellowship with Jesus.

When one is equipped with the above, then one is ready for an effective ministry. Every other qualification is ancillary to these.

In all your preparation for ministry, go for a BA, an MA, a M.SC and a Ph.D. And if you must acquire a fellowship for ministry, be primarily a Fellow of Jesus (FoJ), not just that of any highly rated ecclesiastical club or any human spiritual “mentor”.
